WOW! Children’s Museum announces phased reopening

Lafayette’s WOW! Children’s Museum announced on Friday it would reopen but in a phased approach starting Aug. 8 after being closed for months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

During the first phase of reopening, the museum will operate at reduced hours and limited visitor capacity to 50 people per time slot. The new hours will be Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon, and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Members of the museum will be able to visit starting Tuesday and the general public on Aug. 8.

There will be timed ticketing for all visitors, which must be purchased online in advance.

Staff will also be reducing the number of handheld toys throughout the museum. Each family will use a “WOW! Pack” of items which will ensure less cross-contamination.

There will be hand sanitizer stations throughout the museum and staff will be wearing personal protection equipment.

Those who enter the museum and are 11 years old or older must wear a face mask and maintain a six-foot distance from visitors not in the same family.

“We are so excited to welcome our community members back into the museum,” said Joanna Cagan, Executive Director, WOW! Children’s Museum, in a statement. “These have been very difficult times for all of us, not just at WOW! but throughout the city of Lafayette and Boulder County. We’ve taken our time with this reopening plan, to ensure that we are up-to-date on cleaning and social-distancing procedures, and we are so grateful for the community’s patience during this period.”
